Same Traps

I keep stepping into the same traps, expecting them not to hurt.

Sometimes we fall into the same traps over and over again even when we know better. Whether it’s ways of thinking that lead to a spiral, gravitating toward people we know will only end in hurt, or coping mechanisms we know are destructive. I know I’ve found myself there at some point.

And it’s hard not to be hard on yourself about it. Telling yourself you know better, or should know better, only makes it worse - or at least that’s been my experience. But at the end of the day, being human means taking a few steps forward and a few steps back, and that does not make the journey you’re on invalid.
